Portable Mode

The portable version of AppSwitcher runs directly from any folder — no installer, no registry entries, no admin rights required.

Setup

1. Download AppSwitcher-Portable.zip from the GitHub Releases page.
2. Extract the archive to your desired location (e.g. D:\Tools\AppSwitcher\).
3. Run AppSwitcher.exe.

Configuration Storage

In portable mode, AppSwitcher stores its configuration file (settings.db) and log files in the same folder as the executable. This means:

• Your hotkeys and settings travel with the folder.
• Copying the folder to a USB drive preserves your entire setup.
• No data is written to AppData or the registry.

Caution

If you move the AppSwitcher folder to a different path, any hotkeys that point to absolute application paths will still work — but the Start with Windows startup entry will break, since it points to the old location. Re-enable it after moving.
